Brachytherapy is a new approach in the treatment of Macular Degeneration. Ophthalmologists who carry out this procedure need to complete a Radiation Safety Training Course. This RADSMART Course covers the safety aspects of working with strontium-90 sealed sources used in intraocular brachytherapy. It is approved in NSW for an S-32 or "Use of radioactive material for ophthalmology" License.
